As the world economy is rocked by the most brain addled individuals that could possibly be making fiscal decisions for the world hegemon, we got crap you can buy! There is also some other stuff came out this week that is pretty cool too. A general heads up because of all this dumbassery our prices will be going up a couple dollars on records after LDB fest. We have done our best to shoulder the marginal profit of selling records for as long as we can and now we too are passing that off to the consumer! :D
Big Gates To Hell time right now. Their Nuclear Blast LP “Death Comes For All” just dropped. The 3rd pressing of their compilation 12” is in the store now. I am holding them personally responsible for my sprained ankle. And we have an LDB pressing of their debut LP originally released by Maggot Stomp. A peek behind the curtain, LDB was originally putting out that record and test presses had just arrived when the Maggot Stomp opportunity came along. Our intention with LDB is to provide bands with opportunities that possibly weren’t coming their way otherwise, which is why I tell most bands when we get involved that we are here but if something better comes along it’s no hard feelings. So it was no hard feelings for my friends that I believe in to take their music somewhere with a reach and a niche more appropriate. Now fast forward a few years and those test presses still sitting around my house the band inquired about putting out an LDB version. So here it is goons.
In other Louisville news one of our brightest sons has dropped two new projects simultaneously. Isaac Hale, my friend and frequent musical collaborator has after so many years riffing on the guitar or sitting behind the drum kit found it within himself to front not just one band but two. Couldn’t Be Me I think really captures the current temperature in regular normal HC that wants to be in small rooms with good moshers, sing alongs and classic covers. No big money, no big production just a group of kids still wearing the clothes they wore to work to the gig. I am so proud of my bro for this and I hope it gets the love and appreciation it deserves because I know love and dedication went into making it. Like most of his projects it’s Isaac’s vision but the lineup is rounded out with some great dudes including Two Witnesses guitar player Chandler Daub, Surfaced drummer Blake Smith, Skyler Storm from Walk Alone and Nic Herbert recently departed from Walk Alone absolutely breaking our guitar player Keith’s heart (They talked about U of L basketball at band practice a lot).
In addition to some excellent regular HC the EP for Everybody Dies also dropped and I am very open about how picky I am with death metal but I really fuck with this. It’s got a lot of mid tempo which means a lot of mosh. I am a basic bitch when it comes to metal crap so it’s gotta have parts that make me wanna misbehave. This bands got Nic in it too but also the Twins from YOTK so Isaac isn’t the only absolute freak of nature talent in the band. No offense to the boys in CBM but that band isn’t for showing off. Check the shit I think it’s pretty cool. I also just found my favorite opinion on these two things on Lambgoat which I will also share with you.
“Poop announces two new bands: PEE and BARF”
Pretty awesome review.
This week on Hardcore Troubadour we had Nate Hardy from Highway Eyes on to talk about his musical journey as well as the Wilco record “Being There”, Richard Buckner’s “Surrounded” album, and The Band “S/T”. If you have an interest in hearing me give Nate a lot of the credit for all the bands he has introduced me to plus some tour and life stories check it out.
Dose and World I Hate are playing a couple of dates on the Haywire tour this summer and I know it’s been a big point of discussion in HC recently but this tour is possibly one of the most important showings of how strong local HC is right now that a band is managing to play this many shows across the US. I hope everyone takes the time to look around while they are at these shows and appreciate those moments while they happen. They will be the times you look back on and wish you could get back. I am immensely proud of my friend Austin and his commitment to hardcore is one of the strongest I have gotten to follow. HC lives if you keep it alive.

“You're the one person I can't afford to lose. I know we've seen so much together I know we've paid our fucking dues. Holding on to you is so important to me. I won't be let down, you'll be here constantly. In the end when it's all said and done I can look over my shoulder and I know she'll be the one” - FP
